Privacy Policy

CL Learning Labs is built for use by schools, teachers, and students preparing for AP courses. We take your privacy seriously and keep things simple. We aim to collect the minimum data needed to provide the service.

What we collect

  • Account info: username, email address, and display name.
  • OAuth link: if you sign in with Google, we store the provider and your provider user ID so we can log you in. We do not store your Google password.
  • Class membership: which classes you join or create.
  • Practice data: quiz attempts, adaptive practice results, FRQ submissions, and Decision Coach sessions.
  • Progress: XP totals, daily XP, streak days, and last-active timestamps.
  • Feedback: any messages you submit through the feedback form.

What we do NOT do

  • We do not sell your data to anyone.
  • We do not use student data to train our own models.
  • We do not serve ads or share data with advertisers.

Where your data is stored

Data is stored in a SQLite database hosted on Render (US-based).

Subprocessors

We use a small number of third-party services to operate the platform:

  • Render: application hosting and database storage (US).
  • OpenAI: AI coaching feedback. We send limited data to OpenAI to generate coaching feedback. OpenAI's use of data is governed by their terms and our configuration.

Who can see your data

  • Teachers can see practice results, XP, and progress for students enrolled in their classes, and only their classes.
  • Developers and admins at CL Learning Labs may access data for support, debugging, and improving the product. Access is limited to those who need it.

FERPA

Schools remain responsible for FERPA compliance. We only use student data to provide the service described on this page and do not disclose it for unrelated purposes.

Security

  • Passwords are hashed before storage (we never store plaintext passwords).
  • We use HTTPS when available.
  • Database access is restricted to the application server.

Data retention

We retain your data while your account is active. If you would like your account and associated data deleted, email support@cllearninglabs.com and we will process your request promptly.

Children under 13

CL Learning Labs is designed for high-school students and educators. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 unless their school or teacher has authorized use of the platform in compliance with applicable laws (including COPPA). If you believe a child under 13 has created an account without authorization, please contact us at support@cllearninglabs.com so we can remove the account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
